“Scientific Machine Learning for Vascular Biomechanics and Cardiac Electrophysiology”

Abstract:  Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the US and worldwide. Current development of machine learning is reshaping the landscapes in both cardiovascular research and in cardiology. In this talk, I am going to discuss novel machine learning models in vascular biomechanics and translational cardiac electrophysiology. Topics will include deep learning for 1) inferring biomaterial properties, 2) predicting biomaterial failure, 3) personalized planning for catheter ablation procedures, and 4) patient stratification for risk of sudden cardiac death based on multimodality data.

Biography:  Minglang Yin is a postdoc fellow in the department of biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University, with an appointment in the Alliance for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Treatment Innovation (ADVANCE). He completed his Ph.D. at Brown University in Biomedical Engineering (2022). His research interests span scientific machine learning, cardiovascular mechanics, computational mechanics, multi-scale modeling, and uncertainty quantification. His works involve developing novel machine learning and computational models for the prognosis and diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.
